Mistakes to Avoid When Visiting LTO Office
When you want to visit an LTO branch, you must prepare yourself with all required information and documents. To save you from making mistakes, here I share my knowledge about LTO branch visit as under.
[I] Check Online Appointment Availability
Many LTO branches offer prior online appointment booking via LTO/LTMS Portal. You can login to LTO Portal (portal.lto.gov.ph), select your desired service and book an online appointment at an LTO branch. You may need to pay the fee online to confirm your appointment but it will save your time at the LTO branch.
You can visit the LTO branch on your appointment day and you don’t need to wait much. Your application will be processed on time and your appointment will start on the given time. So, you should check if online appointment service is available for your selected LTO branch before physically visiting the branch.
[II] Fill up the Application Form
Land Transportation Office provides common application forms as PDF with free download option. If you download, print and fill up the form with your personal details before visiting the LTO branch, it can save your time during the branch visit.
Your application will be accepted and processed faster than other applicants who need to get the form and fill up at the LTO branch.
[III] Prepare Required Documents
You should always check for all required documents for the service you want to apply at an LTO branch. Prepare all required documents and carry all documents as original and photocopies to the LTO branch.
When you submit your application form with complete documents, the LTO Personnel will accept it and process the request as quick as possible. You can complete your application/request in a single visit.
[IV] Make an Early Morning Visit
Most LTO branches get crowded after 10:00 AM. So, my advice for you is to visit the LTO branch in the early morning. If you reach the LTO Office before 8:00 AM, you may get your work done and exit the LTO branch before 9:00 AM. You may not need to stand in a long queue if you reach the LTO Office early.
[V] Carry Extra Cash
Some LTO branches accept cash, while some offer both the cash and card payment option. To avoid payment hassles, you should carry the require fees in cash and also carry some extra cash just in case you need it for availing the service from the LTO.
Types of LTO Branches and Their Services
The Land Transportation Office has established three types of LTO branches. Not all LTO branches provide all the services, some branches offer all services, while some branches offer limited services. Here I provide 3 different types of LTO branches with their services details as follows.
[1] LTO District Offices:
LTO District Offices are the main LTO branches located in the National Capital Region of Metro Manila. Such LTO branches offer a wide range of services and are capable to handle hundreds of customers on every working day.
The LTO District Offices offer all the services including the services mentioned below.

LTO Extension Offices are limited service LTO branches that offer basic level services only. Their primary focus is on licensing services as well as other basic transactions given as under.
